Corn stock/ corn broth how to make soup stock with corn cob

Did you know you can make a corn stock/corn broth from empty corn cobs after removing corn kernel. I mean the useless stuff can give you corn flavored naturally sweetened corn soup stock. You can use corn stock/ corn broth in soups, sauces, gravies and add extra corny subtle flavor.

Anyone who is very fond of fresh corns will find this a useful recipe. This stock can be used in any soup with chicken stock instead of water. For my vegetarian friends this is specially interesting and a great alternative of vegetable stock. They can use this corn stock in any recipe with or instead of vegetable stock. If you grow corn then you’ll be delighted to use the huge leftover cob of corns that is full of taste and sweetness. So, here how I made this delicious and sweet corn stock /corn broth with empty cobs after removing kernels.

How to make corn stock

Recipe time: 4 hour| Recipe type: DIY food, condiment, vegetable stock, vegetable broth


  • Empty corn cobs
  • Large pot of water
  • 1 teaspoon salt or to taste

To make corn stock with empty corn cobs, you fill a large stainless steel or glass pot with water. Add all the corn cobs and 1 tsp or more salt as per quantity of corn cobs.The water should be 2 inch above the cobs. Cook it on medium low flame, covered for 3-4 hours.  Or until you see a nice golden color stock. Your corn stock is ready.

Check corn cob soup with coconut milk.

    • Thanks dear… , actually i make whole corn soup so the idea popped up in my mind as i know a lot of sweetness is in the the empty cob. ?
