Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • ½ cup full fat milk or other non dairy milk
  • 2 teaspoon cocoa powder preferably raw or good quality
  • 2 teaspoon tea powder or two teabags, less for light tea.
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar to taste, (or any sweetener)
  • 3 tablespoon bitter sweet chocolate shaving, chips, or chopped

For Spicy Tea ( use any 1)

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon powder optional
  • ½ teaspoon cardamom powder optional

Instructions

  • Whisk water, milk, cocoa powder and sugar in a pot until combined. Then bring it to boil.
  • Add tea powder or tea bags and boil for 5 minutes.
  • Add chocolate and let it melt.
  • Strain and serve hot.

For spiced chocolate tea

  • Also add cinnamom powder and/or cadamom powder in the first step.

Notes

  • Tea powder or teabags both will work. Use less tea powder for a lighter taste.
  • You can also substitute milk with non-dairy milk like almond or cashew milk.
  • Use raw cocoa powder for the best taste.
  • This is a pantry-friendly recipe so if you run out of chocolate, chocolate syrup would work too. Add 4 tablespoons of chocolate syrup and skip the brown sugar.
  • Iced chocolate tea: Chill the tea then blend with 2 cubes of ice to make it frothy. Enjoy.
