Why does this juice combo work?

But then I came to know fruits and veggies should be eaten separately as both have different digestion timings. Apple and carrots are exceptions to this rule. Like in the Apple beet carrot juice combo.

Spinach juice recipe in a blender is better than Spinach juice in a juicer as you get most of the fiber, so I decided to make this detox juice in a blender and juicer both and compare.

Now, spinach juice tastes boring as green veggies are low in sugar and high in fiber. So we add apple, cucumber, lemon, and ginger for a flavor kick. Not to forget all these ingredients also help in weight loss too. If you add celery too, it is great for the skin.

I love it more because this no-yogurt in fact no dairy smoothie can be made without a juicer too.

    Benefits

Here are a few reasons why you should add green veggie juices to your diet.

    • The green juice when made in a blender is high in fiber and helps digestion. (Skip straining.)
    • The low glycemic index due to the low sugar content of green veggies makes it good for weight loss. (Skip honey for weight loss)
    • Naturally, high in vitamins and mineral makes the green spinach juice the best choice to boost immunity.
    • This spinach juice has cucumber and apples, both make it refreshing and hydrating.
    • Hydration, high fiber, and high nutrition all help improve your skin.

    Ingredients

I'm listing just four ingredients that make this juice super delicious. Also, check the benefit of each ingredient. Use fresh crisp veggies for the best taste.

    • Baby Spinach: Spinach is an excellent source of vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C, and folate as well as being a good source of manganese, magnesium, iron, and vitamin B2. Vitamin K is important for maintaining bone health and it is difficult to find vegetables richer in vitamin K than spinach. Find more at Healthline.
    • Cucumber: Cucumbers are low in calories but high in many important vitamins and minerals. It contains antioxidants and promotes hydration. It may help in weight loss and lower blood sugar levels. Check my cucumber juice recipe.
    • Apple: Apples are nutritious and good for weight loss. They can lower the risk of diabetes and promote good gut bacteria. It can help prevent cancer and help fight asthma.
    • Lemon: Lemon helps weight loss and helps promote overall body immunity.

    • You can add any greens to this juice that you have in hand like kale, celery, mint, parsley, broccoli, and Swiss chard.  For flavor enhancers, you can add some ginger as well.

    How do you make it?

    • Fresh and organic is best: Try to get organic baby spinach for the best taste. Baby spinach is mild in taste compared to mature and bigger spinach leaves.
    • Wash all ingredients carefully: Spinach has a lot of dust on its surface, therefore, wash spinach in a large bowl full of water. Pick leaves from the top of the bowl to leave the dusty residue in the bottom. Repeat 2-3 times at least until water runs clear.
    • Then store in the fridge and use as needed. Chilled ingredients make chilled drinks that taste a lot better.
    Spinach juice in a juicer.

Spinach Juice recipe in a Juicer

    1. To make juice in a juicer, core the apples and cut a cucumber in half. No need to peel. Place spinach in the juicer first followed by apple and cucumber. Switch it on and let the nutrient flow. Do not forget to keep a container under the spout.
    2. The juice is pure and delicious with sweetness from the apple. Just add some lemon juice, sweetener is not required. Chill with some ice.

    Pros and Cons:

The juicer method is easier as you do not have to peel and cube anything. But washing the juicer can take more time. You also lose some fibers in a juicer.

    Spinach juice in a blender.

Spinach Juice recipe In a Blender

    1. Prepare Veggies: Peel and chop apple and cucumber roughly for easy blending. Peeling also removes some extra fiber making the juice smooth and enjoyable without straining.
    2. Blend with little water to help the ingredients move in the blender.
A collage showing straining of juice.
    1. It is better to drink the juice like that. The added water also dilute the fibre making it easy to consume. But water also dilute the flavor. Flavor juice with lemon juice and honey. Add honey after tasting,if required. Drink immediately.
    2. If you find it too fibrous and heavy, strain it through a coarse strainer.

    Pros and Cons:

    • If you aren't straining and want to make most benefit of this drink blending is a better choice. Washing blender every day is easy peasy.
    • The taste is compromised in blending if you add too much water. Adding honey adds calories.
    • Blending take slightly more time to make.
    • Blended juice is nutritionally better without sweetener and straining.

    Recipe FAQs

Can I drink spinach juice every day?

In moderation, you can drink it every day. We are using little spinach and diluting juice with more ingredients. Since juicing allows you to consume a large amount of green that cannot be eaten as raw or cooked. So make sure you take only a single serving of this drink every day.

What is the best time to drink spinach juice?

The best time to drink any juice is in the morning on empty stomach. That’s when your body is more likely to absorb more nutrients. However, you can drink it anytime.

    How to store spinach juice?

Green juice should be consumed fresh but if you find it difficult to make it fresh every day. You can double the recipe and store it in the fridge in a glass container. Drink within 48 hours for the best result.

Side effects of spinach green juice

If consumed in moderation spinach juice is beneficial. But if you have gout or high uric acid avoid spinach and broccoli in green juice. Use kale or other greens instead.  Because spinach and broccoli are high in purines which can, in turn, increase Uric acid.

People with kidney problems and kidney stones should avoid it or drink occasionally as greens are high in oxalic acid, so it can put excess work on kidneys to remove them. It can also develop kidney stones.

Hi Wanda, fruit, and veggies are low in fat compared to meat and milk but not completely devoid of fat. I hope that answers your query.
